Rumor: Microsoft Might Be Interested In Acquiring EA, Valve Or PUBG Corp

Due to the lack of current Xbox One exclusives being released recently, Microsoft is falling behind the PS4 console and might even get overtaken by the Nintendo Switch in the next few years. Microsoft is aware of this and might rectify this problem by doing some blockbuster acquisitions.

In a new article posted by Polygon, a reliable source claims that Microsoft is interested in acquiring EA. Microsoft has $130 billion in the bank so it can easily have enough money for a buyout.

This can cause several problems for other gamers if this happens. Sports games like Madden and FIFA could have a huge affect if they were to be exclusive only to the Xbox family of consoles.

However, Microsoft bought out Minecraft developer Mojang a few years ago and still allowed the game to be ported onto other devices outside of the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. This is all just rumors, so nothing has been set in stone yet.

One company that might be far-fetched is Microsoft being able to acquire Valve. Valve is responsible for Steam and developed awesome games like Half-Life and Portal just to name a few.

A feasible acquisition being talked about is PUBG Corp. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently one of the most popular online games today and both PC and Xbox One gamers are currently liking it. I can see Microsoft acquiring PUBG Corp in order to prevent the actual PUBG game releasing on more platforms like the PS4 and/or Nintendo Switch.

As of right now though, neither parties have made any official comments so take this news as a rumor for now. If Microsoft is able to acquire one of these companies, it could change the landscape of the video game industry.
