Much like Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PSP, it has been confirmed that the PlayStation Vita is also totally region free.
The news was confirmed via Sony Computer Entertainment’s president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida twitter account. A curious fan asked him on twitter of the PS Vita is region free. He answered promptly with a simple “Yes it is”.
This comes as great news for gamers as they can easily play imported Japanese games without having to worry if it will work. With the PS Vita currently scheduled for release in Japan on December 17th, this means gamers can even import the system and play it before anyone else.
Sony has yet to announce the release dates for the PS Vita outside of Japan. It’s likely to be out in early 2012.
