What used to be a staple for the gamers diet back in the day from the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat is now being overpowered by FPS and RPG games. Recently, Street Fighter IV and Tekken recently stepped out of the shadows and showed that fighting games can still hold their own in today’s day and age.

Dead or Alive has been around for a while introducing some memorable fighting games. Somewhere along its lifespan the women of DOA branched off to do their own thing and strut their stuff. Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball was released in 2003 and showed the sexier side of the girls who were usually kicking butt and taking names. For the most part it received decent scores.

Disgaea has become one of the most popular underground franchises in modern gaming. It had it’s humble start back in 2003 on the PS2, and only through word of mouth did the game see any real recognition amongst the gaming community. Since then Disgaea has gone on to become one of the highest rated strategy RPGs of our time, and for good reason.

Many may remember the 3D puzzle platformer known as Echochrome that was released in 2008 for the Playstation 3 and PSP. It dazzled players with its simplistic art style but complex level design and perspective based gameplay. Now Echoshift has made its way on to the PSP. At a glance Echoshift may look like a straight sequel since it contains a very similar look including the same mannequin as the main character. The similarities end there.

The highest rated driving franchise of all time has finally gone portable with its latest installment, Gran Turismo Portable for the PSP. Many were skeptical of the initial screenshots and videos. Saying it looked too good to be a PSP title andf that it had to be CG renders, boy were they wrong. But graphics are only part of the GT experience, how’s the gameplay? When it comes to handheld RPGs, Sting Entertainment is the one revolutionary developer that gamers truly admire due to its past titles such as Riviera: The Promised Land. Meaning it will bring an entirely new audience to the series.

Oh Big Boss how we have missed you. Since your last hoorah at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4, I have wondered if we would ever learn more of your story. Well my dream came true when Peace Walker was announced for the PSP. And dear lord is it the most amazing, epic, entertaining, and addicting game I have played on any console EVER. To be quite honest, Big Boss is a much more interesting character than Snake could ever hope to be. I mean, don't get me wrong, Solid Snake has an amazing story behind him and all but Big Boss' story throws all of his personal demons into the mix along with his mission to save the world again.
