This Week’s New Releases 12/9 – 12/15; Gungrave VR, Borderlands 2 VR, Prey: Typhon Hunter, Night Trap and More

Last week marked the end of this year’s most exciting titles, though that doesn’t mean there is nothing worthwhile left in 2018. Leading this week is the surprise release of Borderlands 2 VR, as well as Gungrave VR. Both titles are sure to give new and existing owners something to look forward to. In addition to that, Guacamelee! 2 brings another popular indie to the Switch, along with a bunch of other small, but exciting, titles.

While we’ve seen Borderlands 2 release more than a few times, this is quite possibly the most exciting re-release yet. Similar to Skyrim VR, it brings a fuller experience to the world of VR, giving players a glimpse of what they hope the platform will eventually become. Whether Borderlands 2 meets expectations is another story, one we hope works out, though certainly adds plenty to be excited for. Joining it is Gungrave VR. The original PlayStation 2 games might not have been perfect, especially by todays standards, yet the style managed to keep it relevant. Based off the E3 demo it’s one of the more interactive titles, one that does a good job of making VR feel less like a gimmick, so we will see how that ends.

Speaking of smaller releases, Guacamelee! 2 finally releases on the Switch. The next chapter in Juan’s journey was a lot of fun, something that will likely translate well to the Switch. However, given the frustrating nature of some of the challenges, it might be more than a little difficult for Joy-Con users.
