Nintendo Doesn’t Think Dock Scratches Nintendo Switch Screens

Many people that have bought the Nintendo Switch feel that the screen of the console gets scratched when you constantly dock and undock it. Nintendo on the other hand says it hasn’t “seen it”.

Time had a chance to interview Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aimé and he says Nintendo has yet to see this happen to them. They tested the Switch numerous times to check for this.

He said: “So throughout all of those experiences, throughout all the docking and undocking we’ve done, we haven’t seen it. So this is one where if it is happening, we want to understand more as to what the specific situation is. Which is why we want consumers to let us know through our support site.”

A comment posted on Nintendo Today though made an interesting discovery. This person believes that the plastic of the Nintendo Switch’s dock gets squashed in the box during packaging. According to this person, the box squashes the outer part of the dock causing it to bend inward. The inward bend is what may have been causing the scratching issues for other users.

Maybe this is a sign that Nintendo should reinforce the dock of the console to make it stronger so that this issue doesn’t happen. Alternatively, they could add something soft to the inner part of the dock to prevent scratching.
