Flappy Bird Removal Has Led To Insane eBay Auctions

Flappy Bird

We reported Saturday on the upcoming removal of the short-lived phenomenon known as Flappy Bird from any online stores. The game’s creator Dong Nguyen went through on his threat to remove the game and as a result, it is no longer available to download on your mobile devices. This had led to some very insane and almost hilarious eBay auctions popping up.

The game was made available as a free download only a couple weeks ago on the iOS and Google Play Store and became an overnight success. Plenty of its popularity came as a result of the negative aspects of the game, such as the similarities to Mario and the frustrating difficulty. Due to the removal, many people have taken to eBay to put up their phones with the game preinstalled.

The cheapest current listing for the most recent iPhone model, the iPhone 5S, with Flappy Bird is $800, but some have insane auctions such as one for $75,000 for the iPhone 5C. There are tons of them in the thousands of dollars range, plus plenty in the upper hundreds, all for a simple game to be installed. The intriguing part will be to see who actually pays the most for one of these following this removal.
