Nintendo’s biggest Achilles heel for years has been a lack of third-party support and they have been able to stay afloat due to their fantastic array of first-party games that we know and love. However, a source from a third-party company has now come out and said that the Wii U killed their connection with Nintendo.
It became a kids IP platform and we don’t really make games for kids. That was pretty true across the other labels too. Even the Mass Effect title on Wii U, which was a solid effort, could never do big business, and EA like Activision is only focused on games that can be big franchises.
Nintendo obviously has to do something to win back the support of third-parties, which has not been helped by the fact that developers have to completely build games differently on the Wii U than any others.
