Sony say PSN back up “within a week”

Sony recently revealed that they aim to have PSN and Qriocity back up and running “within a week”.

In a Q&A on Sony’s blog the company explained “Our employees have been working day and night to restore operations as quickly as possible, and we expect to have some services up and running within a week from yesterday.”

This means hopefully PSN will be up by May the 4th although Sony was quick to point out “we want to be very clear that we will only restore operations when we are confident that the network is secure.” Fingers crossed PSN will be back soon and online gaming can once again be enjoyed.

  1. They can take as much time as they want, as long as they make security 10 times better or more. This doesn’t ever need to happen again. This should not have happened in the first place. Security should be top notch when dealing with the personal info of 77 million users. Step it up Sony.

It takes a long time to rebuild an entire infrastructure and change your code to it because you yourself (Sony firmware developers) let the code out in a firmware patch and people where able to reconfigure it and MOD ps3’s they paid for…Shame on sony…push the update ….quit letting smart people download it..hahahahahaaaa

  6. whoever fucking hacked into psn should get there ass beat by everyone who plays online daily. I heard from an unknown source that the hacker/hackers got information about most peoples credit cards. They didnt get mine, I was always pretty sketchy about putting my credit card numbers online just in case of an emergency like this. I am one pssied motha fucker I go out on buisness for 6 months with no electronics and then i get to come home and there not be psn????
    WTF is going on i leave back for my tour on may 7th if its not back up im going to go on a rage and then i will hack the psn system!!!!!!

  7. I understand what Sony’s doing, and i somehow respect that. There making the best of a horrible situation and mistake. I think they handled it well, however im still upset its gonna take so long to get it back up and running, but i understand. Nice article!

  9. so it went down because of a security leak, could it have anything to do with portal 2 comming out linking our PSN’s to our steam accounts?

  12. MAY 4th? that suck’s we did’nt game on easter vaca either, i’m not one to cry, but, MAY4 is far to long to wait, considerring, we’ve waited this long already, wow! and i really want to play M.A.G again, thnx.
