John Cena Might Be Cast In A Live Action Duke Nukem Movie

Duke Nukem Forever released in 2011 was the last major thing the ’90s video game character was in. The game was received so poorly, we have rarely heard of the macho character ever again. However, we might see him very soon on the big screen because a live action movie is in the works.

The Hollywood Reporter has noted that WWE Superstar John Cena is currently in talks to play the main character of Duke Nukem in a live action movie adaptation. Paramount Pictures is the Hollywood studio backing the movie and it’s expected to be a film that will further push Cena’s acting career.

Currently, the movie has no director but we could hear more details very soon. John Cena first got famous as a professional wrestler in the WWE. Now he’s following in the footsteps of The Rock and Batista slowly making his mark in Hollywood.

Cena has the same meathead look that makes him perfect for the role of Duke Nukem. Judging from the video games, it’s possible the film version could be R rated and feature a lot of ’90s style of humor and content.

If Cena gets the role, he will further have to take time off from his WWE career. He’s expected to wrestle at this year’s WrestleMania 34 event, although he will then take more time off to act in even more movies he’s currently booked for.

As for Duke Nukem, the movie could help elevate the character to become popular again. The ill received Duke Nukem Forever pretty much killed off the character’s popularity and we have not heard from him since 2011. Don’t get your hopes up if the movie ends up being bad though, because many video game movies tend to fail at the Box Office sadly…
