Sakura Wars: So Long my Love is the first game in the series to be released outside of Japan, it’s also the FIFTH game in the series. Sega originally started the Sakura Taisen, or Sakura Wars, as it’s known in the US, series back on the Sega Saturn. It was a new kind of RPG, not one seen before on a console and quickly became one of the most popular franchises in Japan.

Fellow writer Josh Garibay and I had the chance to attend the Sony Santa Monica Studios God of War III launch party on Wednesday night. It was a full 3 hour event that lasted from 7-10 p.m. and it was a night filled with entertainment such as music, dancers, suspense, mingling with developers, and of course, hands on time with the final installment of Kratos' epic trilogy.

After an entertaining visit to 2K's off-site event for a look at Civilization V I was eager to go back to see what they had in store for their other game Mafia II. I was sat down and told that before I got my hands on the game they wanted to give me a little background on their location and characters. The montage kicked off with the main character, Vito, getting off of a train in Empyre Bay in the early 1940s. Empyre Bay is the fictional setting the team has chosen for Mafia II and spans 10 square miles.

Yesterday, at Sony's press conference, I had the chance to play a small bit of SOCOM 4 with the new Playstation Move technology. For an early build of the game, it was really well done and let you play through a good portion of one of the missions. The full demo lasted about 15 minutes per person and between Josh and I that came out to a solid 30 minutes with the game.

Early this morning I had the opportunity to sit down and see how far Alpha Protocol has come. As followers of the upcoming game are aware it was delayed from late last year to June 1st of this year. They claim that the game was completed in time for its original release date, but they wanted to add some more polish. I can safely say that the increased waiting time is a small price to pay for a game that looks to define the genre and further blur the line between 3rd Person Shooter and RPG.

2K Games showed us Civilization V during a presentation off site from the main events at the Moscone Center. We were led upstairs into a theater-esque room where we reverted back to high school with our notebooks ready to take notes and expand our knowledge on the instructor's lecture.

It is truly possible for Nintendo Wii games to be ported on the PlayStation 3 using the PlayStation Move Controller? But what Wii games have the potential to arrive on the PlayStation 3? We know third-party studios would love to make more money on their Wii games that didn't get enough reception on the Nintendo Wii!

Today Sony held its press event. It kicked off with a look back at its successful line up in 2009. This included Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. They went on to brag about their Game of the Year awards. Then they touched on another of their upcmoning Playstation 3 exclusives, God of War 3. Maybe you've heard of it. Enough on what they have done. They were ready to show us what they were going to do.

It’s not often that I find myself having to look through the instruction booklet of a game just to learn how to play it. Most games these days offer in game tutorials, and start off basic enough that even the most moderate of gamers won’t have much trouble quickly catching on to the mechanics.

Since playing and watching how God of War II ended, I couldn’t wait for the last game in the series that will put an end to Kratos’ journey. With God of War III finally here, there are a lot of things to talk about as to why game could potentially be a contender for Game of the Year. The game has indeed nice graphics but what else is there to look forward to?

DICE has released their sequel to their well received game Battlefield: Bad Company in 2008. The game takes everything it excelled at such as tactical decisions, addictive multiplayer, and amazing destruction and improves on them all while correcting its weak points to make this a true contender for the #1 spot for the FPS genre. Welcome back to Bad Company! Marlowe, Sweetwater, Sarge, and Haggard are taking charge once again in the infamous B-Company.

Ah, the good old days. Nothing was better than waking up on a Saturday morning, and after cereal and cartoons, going to the grocery store and begging your mom for a bag of those artificial chemical smelling, shiny green plastic army men. There’s something delightfully nostalgic about Signal Studio’s Toy Soldiers, and that quality alone sets it apart from other one-off’s that have flooded the so-called “tower defense” genre.
