If you still have an Xbox One Kinect device lying around, it won’t be able to plug into the Scorpio directly. You will need to buy an additional adapter if you want to still use it.
Microsoft left this statement to Polygon: “Kinect will be compatible with Project Scorpio via the Xbox Kinect Adapter and the experience will not change due to the connection.”
This adapter can be purchased at participating retailers as well as the Microsoft Store. It usually costs you $39.99 to buy it separately.
This is another sign that the Kinect failed to excite customers. Hardly any games use the device anymore and even certain features on the Xbox One UI don’t use Kinect features either.
An adapter was also needed if you wanted to buy the Xbox One S console too. Only original consoles have the exact slot for you to plug the Kinect device directly.
