There is a method to cheat in Pokemon Go called GPS spoofing. Niantic is now trying to fix the issue in a future update of the game. This may change the way people play the game.
Niantic Support on twitter announced: “Thanks for all your reports. We’re working to add functionality to stop spoofing, and your reports are helping us with our investigations.”
Looking at user comments, it seems as if stopping GPS spoofing in Pokemon Go has been met with a mixed reaction. Some people like the change, while others feel this puts them at an unfair advantage.
Some people used GPS spoofing mainly because they live in rural areas where there aren’t that many gyms or Pokemon hanging around. Hopefully Niantic is able to fix the issue in order to please everyone. A good start is to make gyms and Pokemon more common in rural areas.
