The Australian Government will no longer help fund game development in Australia as revealed on its latest budget announcement.

Australia were giving $20 million to spend on game development for the country. $10 million was already spent, but the rest of the $10 million won’t be funded.

Game Developers’ Association of Australia CEO Tony Reed is upset over the situation. The decision to cut funding was not made with any consultation with gaming industry. Reed also mentioned funding was cut before there was a chance game developers can prove the economic benefits the industry could have in Australia.

Pretty sad news for game developers living down under.
