Rumor: The RetroN 5 May Have Been Delayed Until May Now

Retron 5

The RetroN 5 is starting to seem like it’s never going to come out, with a release date still never officially being set. Recently in early April, a representative from Hyperkin said in an interview that it would be releasing in the next 30 days, but that seems to not be the case any longer.

According to a poster on The Cover Project forums that says he runs a small gaming store, Hyperkin told him the following:

The “end of May” release is a “soft” release. Meaning they really are waiting for the next batch due in the summer for the official real release. Amazon is NOT getting any of the units released at the end of May. Each retailer is only getting 4 units. Retail on the unit is $139.99 and $39.99 for the additional controller. The reasons for the price increase are both cosmetic and technical but if it works as it should then it should be a great retro system.

It is kind of strange that Amazon wouldn’t be getting any of the first batch of units, if this is true, but at least we might be seeing the console soon, even if a little later than expected.

  1. Wow. This reminds me of that Spongebob where Patrick keeps telling sponge later, and finally he jus says ehhhh….. I feel we are at that point.

  2. Ya I’m just wondering if u don’t pre-order it how long is it go to take to get your hands on one. Because there having trouble getting the first batch out. I don’t even want to think about how long it’s going to take for the next one.

  3. I wish I knew. They are being extremely hush hush about everything right now for some reason.
