Assassin’s Creed Franchise Has Its Ending Planned

assassin's creed iv: black flag

Ubisoft is still spitting out annual Assassin’s Creed installments, and will continue doing so for the foreseeable future, but the developer already knows how the franchise will end. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag game director Ashraf Ismai revealed the following information during a conversation with Eurogamer:

The brand team that sits on top and is filled with writers and designers concerned with the series’ overall arc. So there is an overall arc, and each iteration has its place inside this. We have an idea of where the end is, what the end is.

While the ending is known, there’s plenty of room to cram more Assassin’s Creed lore and stories into the middle until the team decides they need to bring the series to a close. From the sounds of it, they’re being very flexible with the ending’s timeframe.

Depending on the setting, depending on what fans want, we’ve given ourselves room to fit more in this arc. But there is an end.

Get comfortable because I’d bet money that planned ending is still a ways off. Be sure to check out the latest installment Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag later this year on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
