Following several delays, Gearbox has finally announced that Aliens: Colonial Marines, a long-awaited squad-based FPS, has gone gold on all three of the originally announced platforms (this excludes the Wii U). This means that those greatly anticipating this title’s arrival can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the game won’t budge from that February 12th release date. Here’s a portion of the official statement from the Gearbox Community page:
Today, we’re proud to announce that we hit every one of those targets, with the game’s gold status indicating that all parties have examined the release candidate and signed off on the code as final and suitable for manufacturing, after which the game will be shipped to retail and propped to digital networks in time for launch on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come February 12, 2013!
If you already have your pre-order down, you’re all set. For the rest of you, the Gearbox Community page was kind enough to put together a detailed list of pre-order bonuses organized by region and a description of the game’s Collector’s Edition. While all of these extra perks sound nice, one of the biggest draws to Aliens: Colonial Marines is the fact the story is canon to the movie and should provide an expanded view of this excellent franchise. What aspect, if any, has drawn you to Gearbox’s latest game?
