Day 1 Studios Reduces Staff by Ninety-Five Percent

F.E.A.R. 3 developer, Day 1 Studios confirmed the rumors about letting go 100 employees (about 95% of the staff) out of its Chicago development team. Gamespot reports that the layoffs were the the result of losing a publishing deal with Konami. No reasons have surfaced as to why the publishing deal fell through but we do know that Day 1 was in the process of developing a sequal to Konami’s classic Silent Scope franchise.

Currently those that remain at Day 1 Studios are working on another project that has yet to be announced. It is truly a frightening thing to know that all it takes is for a single prospect to fall through to cause this kind of a downsizing within a development studio. Hopefully this new project will help Day 1 Studios get back on its feet.

My name is Phillip Price and I have been a "hardcore gamer" for as long as I can remember. My earliest memories of gaming was playing Pole Position and Frogger on my Dad's Atari 2600. Since then, I've owned an NES, Sega Genesis, N64, Game Boy, Sega Saturn, PS1, PS2, Game Cube, Xbox, and currently own a PS3, Xbox360, Wii, PSP,and a DS. I love single player games and miss the days of split screen co-op.
