There have been numerous rumors floating around the net for some time now that Sledgehammer is set to develop the next Call of Duty game. It seems that we can lay the rumors to rest as Sledgehammer has confirmed that they are working on the series’ next entry. The studio posted a job listing in search for a Community Manager and asked those applying if they would “like the chance to build and drive the studio community management effort for Sledgehammer and the next Call of Duty game”.
Activision had recently announced that the next Call of Duty would be released around the tail end of 2011. Many believed this untitled Call of Duty game to be Modern Warfare 3, but that seems highly unlikely at the moment with Activision tied up in legal disputes with Respawn Entertainment. More rumors have already surfaced that the studio will be working on a whole new Call of Duty story line. That would make 3 different Call of Duty story lines to follow which seems excessive and confusing. It seems more logical that Sledgehammer would be working on the unconfirmed Modern Warfare prequel starring Ghost.
Hopefully GDC or E3 will shine some light on this situation and we’ll be sure to update you as that information becomes available.

January 13, 2011 at 10:35 AMThis is just a guess, but I say they are going for a future warfare for the next game like ghost recon is doing.

January 14, 2011 at 10:31 AMI found on this website http://callofdutyghost.com/source-confirms-developers-for-call-of-duty-ghost-modern-warfare-3-30 that a source confirmed Sledgehammer Games were developing Call of Duty Ghost game and Activision would be working on Modern Warfare 3. I am looking more forward to MW3, and hopefully it does come out this year and they can do COD Ghost in 2012.
