Kingdom Hearts Not Ending at III
A leaked interview from the upcoming Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Ultimania reveals that not only is Kingdom Hearts III, the game every fan has been waiting for, is in development, but that two more titles are as well.
About the next title, Kingdom Hearts 3 depends on Final Fantasy XIII Versus, but development of the next title is already underway. There are two titles other than Kingdom Hearts 3 in conception, and I think I’ll release one within this year.
As from next year, I want to put out a title with multiple main characters.
- Tetsuya Nomura, Creator, Director, Character Designer, Base Plot
This sounds like good news for Kingdom Hearts fans. Kingdom Hearts III has been anticipated anxiously for a long time by the KH community (I’ve had first-hand experience of that) and, while I haven’t read the story yet, I hear that the ending in Birth By Sleep sets up KHIII perfectly.
As for these other two titles, who knows. Normura also mentioned that Kingdom Hearts III will merely be the end of the ‘Xehanort Saga’ and that Sora will still be the hero throughout these new stories, to the dismay of many fans, something that is not surprising; fans have been getting bored of Sora and company, and crave for someone new. They got that a bit with Roxas in Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days and Terra, Aqua, and Ventus in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, but apparantly that’s not enough. So, these two new titles could be just to introduce the new story arc.
At any rate, we won’t be hearing any details for a while. Perhaps we’ll see something at E3…?
