Dead Cells – How to Defeat Every Boss Without Taking Damage

Some of the scariest and least enjoyable trophy/achievements involve defeating bosses without taking damage. This is largely due to how easy it’s to make a mistake and the amount of time it takes for everything to go just right. While I did two of the bosses the “hard way,” a lot of this comes down to the right build. A longer and more comprehensive version of the build can be found here, with this guide covering the basics and core set up.

Build

The ideal set up is something that freezes, along with high attack and three perks that further enhance your damage/ability to freeze. The absolute ideal is the Ice Bow with longer thaw, double arrows, two turrets, increase damage when near them and shorter turret cooldown. This is less useful against one of the bosses, though it will greatly aid you during the hardest part. Also, if nothing else, the more attack you have, the easier this is.

The Concierge

Unlike the other fights, The Concierge relies more on luck than skill. Every attack is relatively easy to avoid, it’s the aura that requires good timing, enough freeze to avoid it and/or enough distance for it to not matter. I found running from one end to the other worked well, though make sure you freeze him at the right time. If done correctly, you should beat him without taking a hit.

Cheese Method

While I don’t know what stun locked him, I theorize doing enough damage will send The Concierge in a roar cycle. By this I mean, if you can bring him to a specific point between roars, he will just keep roaring until he dies. Now, if you have a distance weapon and/or turrets, you should be able to melt him before he does anything or causes a problem.

The Time Keeper

All you really need for The Time Keeper is one or more turrets, a ranged weapon, for said turret to have some kind of elemental damage, something to freeze them and at least the ranged weapon you have giving you increased damage for said debuff. The idea is simple, use the turret to hold aggro and block throwing star attacks and debuff to increase the damage you do at range. While this is going on, freeze The Time Keeper to slow their attacks down and maximize damage done. If done correctly, all you need to avoid is the chain attack, falling swords and the gold dash move. None of these are too bad if you pay attention, though it might take a couple tries.

Cheese Method

Do the same basic thing with a high tactics build. If you have the Ice Bow, use it to freeze her as much as possible and turrets to burn down her health. If done correctly, she will die before she does more than a couple moves. If you’d like to see a video of these method, it can be found under The Concierge’s cheese method.

Conjunctivius

This is probably the hardest boss to flawless, with the main issue being the adds. While I suggest the same basic tactics, use turrets and freeze whenever possible, this fight actually requires you to do most of the damage to him. For this reason I suggest trying to get the Frantic Blade and reduce your health below 50 percent. If you can do this and build towards tactics, you should be able to freeze him, ideally with the Ice Bow, deal significant damage and have two turrets that will ideally kill the adds so quickly they’ll never have a chance to damage you. This will likely take some time, so I strongly suggest seeing how I did it and trying to do the same.

The Hand of the King

Before even considering this I strongly suggest learning all his attacks. Without this you’ll likely never do it, since you’ll always be caught off guard or expect A when he is actually doing B.

The best tactic here is high attack, either through turrets or a melee weapon, something to freeze him and playing a slow game. The core tactic is the same, just this time you want to wait until he summons the war banners. This is the point where he is the most open and is the safest to slow him down. Outside of that, remember killing the first elite triggers the fight to continue and the best tactic is to minimize risk. All this makes more sense if you watch the video below, since a couple well timed/placed attacks are more than enough to burn him.

For those trophy/achievement hunters out there, keep in mind that purchasing, picking up and brining the cursed sword into the final fight is enough to complete that task. It’s much easier to do that than go through the whole game with it.
