A Way Out has been one of 2018’s biggest surprises and it looks like the game has been a huge success thus far. The game’s developer, Hazelight Studios, has announced that the game has been successful for the small studio.
The official Hazelight Studios Twitter page announced the following message: “We just found out that #AWayOut has sold over 1 million copies, in just over two weeks! Words cannot describe how much this means to us. Thank you to all of you for your support!”
According to a report from Kotaku, A Way Out actually exceeded expectations as EA did not expect it to be so successful. EA originally thought the game would have sold just under 900,000 copies in its entire lifetime.
Well the game shattered those expectations to sell over 1 million units in only two weeks. How much higher the game can go is anyone’s guess at this point. The game became popular thanks to good reviews and people streaming it. Not only that, but it has an excellent story and unique gameplay.
The game’s creator, Josef Fares, is not going to work on a sequel to A Way Out though. Fares already mentioned on his official Twitter account that he’s already moved on to make another new game.
