John Cena might be in the lead role in an upcoming Duke Nukem movie as the producer wants him to be in it. That said, Cena himself has not officially signed to the role yet and is waiting for the proper script to be fleshed out before he’s interested.
During an interview with Cinema Blend, Duke Nukem producer Andrew Form confirms that John Cena is the main person he is eyeing for the role right now. He said: “Yeah, that’s what we’re working with now. He is. Yes. We don’t have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point but if he reads the script and he doesn’t like the script I’m sure there’s ways that he could pull out, but right now he’s our guy.”
However John Cena himself says on a separate exclusive interview with Screen Rant that nothing official has happened regarding him signing up for the role yet. Cena himself is flattered that the movie producer wants him in the role, but he’s not going to take it yet until he is happy with the script.
Judging by Cena’s words, it sounds like he wants to make sure the Duke Nukem movie won’t be a flop that could potentially ruin his future movie career ambitions. After all, video game movies usually aren’t credible and are usually panned by both critics and fans. Not to mention The Rock had it rough early on in his film career starring in the horrible Doom movie back in 2005.
