Red Dead Redemption 2 Unlikely For Nintendo Switch Says Game Analyst

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is only announced for PS4 and Xbox One right now. It sounds like the chances of a Nintendo Switch port are very slim.

GamingBolt interviewed Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter and they asked him if there was any chance of Red Dead Redemption 2 heading to the new console.

He replied with: “I would say the chances of that are exceedingly poor. I can’t remember any game other than – there was a GTA made for the DS, which came out in 2009 – I’d be really surprised if they wasted their effort to port anything for Nintendo. I just think that Nintendo has wandered too far away from the mainstream for most of the publishers, so you’re just not getting mainstream games produced for Nintendo consoles- not ones made for other consoles, at any rate

There are rumors that the Nintendo Switch only has 4GB of RAM and game cartidges only go up to 16GB. If this is true, a huge game like Red Dead might not be able to be on the Nintendo console.

  1. The rumor of the RAM could be true, but you’re not taking into account that PS4 and XBO are using nearly 4GB of ram for their OS, and only have around 4GB of RAM available for gaming, which is the same as the rumor for Switch. Wii U only used 1 GB for it’s OS, so if that’s the same for Switch, or it uses less (they want to save battery life) it’s feasable to have roughly the same amount of RAM available as PS4 and XBO. Besides, the Wii U only had 1 GB of RAM and it managed to pump out gorgeous 1080p 60fps games.

Lets also not forget Bethesda said they wouldn’t make Switch games unless it was at least as powerful as XBO. They are making games for the system, so it has to be pretty close to XBO at a minimum, if not exactly on equal footing. Besides, really, the only reason PS4 and XBO have that much ram, is to future proof them. They don’t even use all 4GB of ram available for games anyway. It’s not needed, they aren’t PCs that have all sorts of bloat from Windows etc.

I have no idea where you get this 16GB of space on the game cards from, because Nintendo themselves recommended developers utilize game cards of 32GB range. That doesn’t mean they can’t use a 64GB card. Uncharted 4 is only 48GB, so it’s not like every game will require more than 32GB cards. In fact, most games won’t. Rise of the Tomb Raider is only 20gb..22gb for Skyrim remastered. Games that need a larger than 32GB card would be few and far in between. The Switch will be just fine.
