A lot of people despise that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare looks nothing like a traditional Call of Duty game. Infinity Ward stresses that the new game is still a Call of Duty game at heart.

Forbes spoke with Taylor Kurosaki who is the Narrative Director for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. His comments about the game can be seen below.

“To be clear, we aren’t developing a science fiction or sci-fi game. Infinite Warfare is first and foremost a Call of Duty game, which means visceral infantry combat as well as piloting vehicles”

The only reason they are putting spaceships into the game is because they want to explore new opportunities for the franchise. The single player campaign will go back to Call of Duty’s roots as there will be no co-op mode and you are back just playing as a scripted character named Nick Reyes.
