Live-Action Tekken Movie Prequel Announced (Update)

Tekken

Update: This movie has now been deconfirmed courtesy of the original site that reported the news, the supposed star of the movie Kane Kosugi’s official website. The website made a new post to say he is actually going to star in a non-Tekken movie titled Agent X and while also saying the following: “We would like to apologize for the ineptitude on our part.”

A live-action Tekken movie was released a few years ago to little promotion whatsoever, which led to the movie not even seeing a wide theatrical release in the US. The movie was even thought to be a travesty by the director of the game series who said “That Hollywood movie is terrible. We were not able to supervise that movie; it was a cruel contract. I’m not interested in that movie.” However, Crystal Sky Pictures is now moving forward with a prequel to that movie titled Tekken – A Man Called X.

The movie actually does have some quality behind it with it’s director and star. Prachya Pinkaew, best known for the very well received Ong-Bak and Tom Yum Goong, will direct the film the movie, which will star Kane Kosugi, in his first starring lead role in Hollywood.

Could this movie actually manage to be good? Tekken – A Man Called X is expected to start filming soon with no set release date yet.
