Nintendo has begun to sell Wii U GamePad high capacity battery in US

Nintendo

Over the last half year or so, Nintendo has slowly trickled out a higher capacity battery for the Wii U GamePad. First releasing in Japan and then in Europe, the new battery has finally arrived in the US and can be brought straight from Nintendo’s website right now.

The new high capacity battery is said to last about 8 hours per charge, which is a pretty good upgrade from the 3-5 hours you get currently. The 2550mAh battery does not protrude from the back of the GamePad at all as it fits perfectly in the same slot as the original, with little weight difference.

All you will need is a screwdriver to open up the back and pop the old one out and the new one in. You can order the battery right now from Nintendo’s website for $32.
