Kingdom Hearts 3 director Nomura speaks about next entry in series

Kingdom Hearts 3

There has been quite a bit of excitement from Kingdom Hearts fans this week between the announcement of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX and a new trailer being released for Kingdom Hearts 3. We had heard before that Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Kingdom Hearts series, sat down to speak about Kingdom Hearts 3 with Sony as part of their Conversations with Creators series, and now video of that interview has been posted on Youtube.

The video features footage of both Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts 3 with audio of Nomura being interviewed over them. Thanks to SQEXGAL on Twitter, we have a full translation of the interview that you can find here. In this interview, Nomura says that Sora has much more mobility in this game by adopting the free run style seen in many modern games. He also talks about how they have made a point to evolve the AI in both your allies and the enemies, to a level never seen before in the series.

When asked about the graphics in Kingdom Hearts 3, Nomura said “We’re aiming for a photo realistic representation combined with a tone of each Disney world.” This let to the discussion about what they are calling the “Kingdom Shader” that makes the game looks almost like a hand painted Disney film. He also discussed that the worlds in the game will include many new worlds as well as old worlds, but with completely different locations in them from the past.

Make sure to read the entire translated interview as linked above as there is much more. If you care to see the video of the interview, which has no subtitles, you can watch it below:
