Top 5 JRPGs of 2013

If there’s one genre that I miss this generation, it is the JRPGs that graced both the PS2 and PSOne over a decade ago. Popular RPG franchises like Wild Arms, Suikoden, Shadow Hearts, and Grandia are among the titles that went MIA ever since the PS3 was released. While the RPG genre isn’t necessarily dead as there are Western RPG titles that are still popular like the Elder Scrolls game, the one thing that appears to be dead are the RPGs from Japan as we continue to see them less every year.

Now that we are in the year 2013, many are wondering just how many RPGs there are that are coming? What are the top five in our list? Let’s find out in our Top Five JRPGs of 2013:

#5 – Atelier Ayesha (PS3) | March 2013

Atelier Ayesha

Following the release of three Atelier games on the PS3, another entry in the franchise is set to come out in March 2013. Gamers who enjoy gathering ingredients, creating stuff through alchemy and going through an interesting journey with the game’s female lead, Atelier Ayesha is something to look forward to this March. Expect new adventures as players guide Ayesha in search of her missing sister.

#4 – Ys: Memories of Celceta (PS Vita) | Summer/Fall 2013

For the first time on the PlayStation Vita, XSEED games is bringing Ys: Memories of Celceta in North America this 2013. Being the first Ys game on the PlayStation Vita, there are lots of expectations on the game such as better 3D visuals, improved combat system and of course the interesting storyline. If you have a PlayStation Vita and is looking for a solid hack and slash RPG this year, Ys: Memories of Celceta is the game you should look forward to.
