War Of The Roses – Tips And Tricks For The Battlefield

While there are many players on the War of the Roses beta not everyone knows a few minor features which can make a big difference, when it comes to the battlefield. So if you want to find out a few tips to improve your chances, read on.

Blunt Or Sharp Side

Certain weapons in War of the Roses, including a few of the Polearms, have two different sides that can be used. Simply pressing “Q” will see the character flip the weapon so that the blunt side of the weapon can be used. The blunt side can do more damage than the sharp side if used against the heavy armour. Most of the time the player won’t have time to determine the armour of the enemy and switch accordingly: although if they do it can result in despatching the opponent that bit quicker.

Tagging

If you see an enemy cavalry unit flanking your team’s troops or even an archer that has you pinned down, it is possible to temporary tag them drawing the attention of your squad. Tagging is done by holding “T” over the enemy and will put a small coin like symbol below them. Not only can it help stop enemy flanking manoeuvres, it also gives a tagged kill bonus when they are downed.

Put Down Your Visor

Certain medium and heavy helmets give players have a choice to make between full vision and full face protection. Pressing ‘V’ will lower the players visor giving face protection so that opponents can’t get a critical hit by slicing the players face. However, dodging the possibility of being dealt over 70 damage with one slice of an opponent’s sword comes with a large negative. The player’s vision will be massively reduced so the best time to put the visor down is just before close quarters combat.

Scroll Out

When in close quarters combat it is certainly worth having the camera directly over the characters shoulder. However, when it comes to attempting to capture a point or hide around a corner awaiting an enemy, simply scrolling out will give you an extra second to react if an enemy attempts to attack you from behind. Unfortunately this only gives you a tiny amount of extra time to react nevertheless it will save you the odd embarrassing death.

I hope this helps you step up your game and survive a little longer on the battlefield. Testing out the visor and the blunt side of certain weapons is the best way to know if they will truly help you individually, personally I find the visor blocks to much; that being said it has saved my life numerous times.
