Darksiders II: Like a Noss Trophy Guide (Optional Bosses)

This guide will walk you through the four side quests offered by Thane and it will also tell you where to start. Let’s begin!

Once you reach Tri-Stone early on in Death’s journey, you’ll meet the world-crafters known as the Makers. One of the Makers can be found practicing his combat skills; this one is Thane. Talk to him and you’ll have the option to tell him you wish to battle him one-on-one. This will activate the quest “The Maker Warrior”. It is recommended that you be around the 3 to 5 mark in terms of Death’s level. With a few tips in mind, this mighty warrior can be felled rather easily.

Quest: The Maker’s Warrior – Defeat Thane

His attacks may be simplistic and predictable, but they pack quite a punch if they land; they’re even able to knock out Death in one hit if the fight is initiated before the first dungeon. Here’s how to beat him:

  • Look out for Thane’s wide-arc and over-the-head swings
  •

  • Dodge left or right to avoid attacks
  •

  • Do not dodge backwards; Thane’s attacks are capable of reaching far enough forward to hit Death
  •

  • Only dodge backwards after successfully dodging left or right if you need to create some distance
  •

  • Upon successfully dodging left or right, move in for a few hits
  •

  • Use your best heavy weapon (axe, mace or hammer) against Thane if you are fighting him early on
  •

  • You should be able to get in 2-3 hits with a heavy weapon
  •

  • Do not risk the third strike if Thane is readying his attack; chances are you will not interrupt him
  •
With Thane bested, he offers four new side quests that make his battle look like child’s play (which it kind of is already). Gorewood, Bheithir, Achidna and Argul (also known as the Deposed King) are the names of the towering creatures you’ll have to square off against to truly earn Thane’s respect. Although these side quests are given early on, they must each be taken on at the appropriate level to substantially increase Death’s chance of survival.

    1. Thank you!

I have tried to fight Gorewood at level 2-4… (not sure)
And seeing as i died with one hit without scratching him has made me wonder what was the adequate level to even start hunting the four mentioned by Thane. Now i know. :)
