Sony Confirms 90 Million PSN Accounts Worldwide

Ted Regulski, manager of SCEA Developer Relations, announced at GDC in San Francisco that there are 90 million PSN accounts currently active worldwide. This sum spans all the accounts on the Playstation 3, PSP and Playstation Vita. He did not go into detail about how many of those accounts were on which system and how many of them are actually active accounts. Many users have multiple accounts on one system in different regions to access the different content.

Regulski went on to state that Sony is “the only major console publisher to allow self-publishing.There are others but they have publishing rules that aren’t much fun … and there are no weird limits you have to hit in order for us to pay you,” he added. He finished by stating that they offer devs better royalty sums than Microsoft and Nintendo, but did not give any figures.
