PlayStation Network Hacked, Warns About Possible “Stealing” of Information

While the PlayStation Network is down, a lot of gamers are curious as to what have been the reasons to this outrageous downtime. Today, Media Molecule said that the PSN is once again, hacked.

According to the post that Media Molecule posted today, the PSN is hacked and it warned users not to enter any personal information including credit card, etc until the PSN website says it’s okay.

Here’s what Media Molecule posted:

The PSN is still down because of a hack and will remain out of service for another while yet (worst-case scenario would be 1 or 2 more days). DO NOT enter ANY personal information (credit card information etc.) until the PSN website says its OK. Even once the PSN website says it’s OK, please wait at least 2 hours to make sure it’s a legitimate announcement. But for the moment, you should be patient and don’t worry about it.

As what Patrick Seybold of Sony Computer Entertainment America said yesterday, the downtime may last up to two days depending on how successful they get in getting the server back up online.

  1. Sony just needs to bring back the system to what it was before the 2.1 patch like the Anonymous Group is demanding. Then he needs to hire Geohot to be in charge of network security. Drop all charges Sony, you obviously would rather not take the financial loses that a fight like this would cost! These hackers stated on YouTube that they could have hacked even our (the players) initial log in attempts so us players couldn’t even play at all, but instead they stated that they just wanted to get Sony’s attention and want their demands heard and met. Therefore, I believe that all of our credit card info will be safe.

  2. So what if my credit information is already all set up and stuff? Sure, I can’t sign into the PSN right now, but my information for my account still exists. Am I still at risk of having my information being taken?

  6. Weird. Ive had no prob playing online COD Black Ops at all. Im playing right now multiplayer with 9 other people that are also online. Weird…

    and using annon as a scapegoat so psn users anger and frustration is directed at them

  10. Still today online and playing I don’t know why people are complaining. There are also thousands online. Im playing COD B ops and Smooth sailing for me. I’m sure they may have shut off regions.
