It is now official. The Xbox 360’s most popular shooter series since Halo has a release date penned.
Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski announced on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that the game is indeed coming and will arrive April 8 2011. He also unveiled the new trailer which showed a female blonde character among other things. During the interview he said there will be new enemies called the “The Lambent” which are weird tentacle-like beings as well a host of new weapons. The release of the game is in April 2011 instead of late 2010 to avoid competition from Microsoft’s other big title, Halo Reach.
