Medal of Honor Beta Hands On

DICE has taken over the development of the online component of Medal of Honor bringing their Frostbite engine and Bad Company formulas to a different franchise. Players now have a chance to play an early build of the game's multiplayer in a closed beta - obtained by reserving the game at specific retailers or getting lucky in website contests - to get a taste of what to expect later this year. If you weren't selected for the closed beta, then let me tell you what its all about and if you should be interested.

E3 2010: Fallout New Vegas Hands-On Impression

Now that RPGs like Final Fantasy XIII are out of the way, the next one on every RPG gamer's list for this year is Bethesda Softwork's Fallout: New Vegas that is scheduled for a Fall release. Fallout: New Vegas is an entirely new game, not a sequel to Fallout 3 or anything like that. On the show floor, only playable for the press, I managed to play the first few levels of Fallout: New Vegas and I am impressed as to how Obsidian Entertainment managed to keep most of the enjoyable elements from Fallout 3 while still adding new features as well.

E3 2010: Ys Seven Brings Back Classic Gaming (Hands-On Impression)

The recent partnership of XSEED Games and Nihom Falcom several weeks ago gives gamers the chance to play the good titles of Nihon Falcom, namely the Ys Series. A game that XSEED has in store for us in this year's E3 is the collection of Ys games that was completely remade on the PSP.

Deathsmiles Hands-On Impression

DeathSmiles on the Xbox 360 is an arcade shooter game that will be coming out this June 26th. For an arcade shooter game like this, it's typical for it to appear on the Xbox LIVE Arcade rather than in retail packaging. Now that I got the final build of the game in my hands, I spent several hours playing through the world of Gilverado, where the kingdom is plagued by monsters and disturbed souls. For "lolita" themed fans, this is a game the player will be looking forward to play as the characters are cute little girls trying to make the player drool while you shoot evil forces.

Alpha Protocol Hands-On Impression

The series finale of '24' this week made me depressed as I'm a big fan of Jack Bauer. With the series coming to an end, a game not too dissimilar to 24 comes in to help ease the pain. That game is Alpha Protocol which is due to come out next week. As I finally had a chance to play the final build of Obsidian Entertainment's Alpha Protocol, Agent Michael Thorton reminds me a lot of Jack Bauer. Both characters are federal agents that will be saving the world, except Agent Thorton doesn't have 24 hours. In my first hour through the game, I'm nothing but enthralled as to what the game has to offer.

Hexyz Force Preview

Aside from Persona 3 Portable, another role-playing game that has high expectations is Hexyz Force. From the developer who brought us Riviera: The Promised Land, Hexyz Force is a classic RPG title that follows the story of two separate characters. Today, we participated in the demo presentation of the game and learned new information that got us excited. From the traditional role-playing experience we already expected, another feature to look forward to in the game are the multiple endings on offer. Hexyz Force is scheduled to be released on May 25th 2010 exclusively on the PSP. Let's take a look on the new things we've learned from the presentation.

Alan Wake “The Dark Vs. Light” Hands-On Impression

Before I started playing Alan Wake, I had no idea what kind of experience I was going to get. From the looks of the screen-shots, and videos that were previously released, it felt like it was going to be just another survival-horror game. Today, I managed to run through the first episode of Alan Wake, and my initial impression? It already gave me the chills by just watching the opening scene. Without spoiling the intro, Alan Wake reminds me of Silent Hill; dark & creepy. Fans who played Silent Hill will feel nostalgia when you first play the game; after that, it's a totally new experience.

Final Fight: Double Impact Hands-On Impression

Next week, the Capcom remake of Final Fight and Magic Sword will be released in the form of Final Fight: Double Impact. It's a nice little throwback to the good days of side-scrolling beat-em-ups and hack and slash games. They show that even old arcade style games can be given a fresh breath of life and brought into the public while maintaing a fun and addicting playstyle. Definitly a welcome thing for gamers today who miss the old SEGA and NES titles

ModNations Racers PSP Hands-On Impression

The ability to Create, Play, and Share was first introduced when LittleBigPlanet was released in 2008. A lot of gamers liked this concept therefore, Sony Computer Entertainment is releasing another game where those three elements will be put together to create a racing game with infinite possibilities. ModNation Racers is the game I'm talking about and it's coming out in just a few months. I had the chance to play the preview build of the PSP version of the game and from the first hour of play that I've spent, I am enthralled.

Fat Princess: Fistful of Cakes Hands-On Impression

Fans who love playing Fat Princess on the PlayStation 3 would be happy to know that in just a couple of weeks, they will finally have a chance to play on-the-go as the PSP version of Fat Princess will finally be released. A couple of weeks ago, I received the final build of the PSP version of Fat Princess and one of the first things I noticed is that the game is very similar to its PSN counterpart; its controls, functions, and modes are completely identical.

Samurai Shodown SEN Hands-On Impression

SNK Playmore has been one of my favorite developers when it comes to playing fighting games on an arcade. I have seen and played a lot of classic fighting games such as the King of Fighters, and the Samurai Showdown series. In a few days, the newest fighting game from SNK Playmore and the publisher, XSEED Games will be releasing the latest installment of the Samurai Shodown exclusively on the Xbox 360.

3D Dot Game Heroes Hands-On Impression

When 3D Dot Game Heroes was first announced in Japan, I was somewhat hesitant about how the game would turn out. Based on the screenshots and videos released by From Software, it looks pretty childish and very old school. A year passed by and Atlus brought out the announcement that they would be bringing 3D Dot Game Heroes to North America. Knowing Atlus acquired the publishing rights for 3D Dot Game Heroes, I knew that the game would be a lot better than I thought it would be.

GDC 2010: Mafia II Hands-On Impression

After an entertaining visit to 2K's off-site event for a look at Civilization V I was eager to go back to see what they had in store for their other game Mafia II. I was sat down and told that before I got my hands on the game they wanted to give me a little background on their location and characters. The montage kicked off with the main character, Vito, getting off of a train in Empyre Bay in the early 1940s. Empyre Bay is the fictional setting the team has chosen for Mafia II and spans 10 square miles.

GDC 2010: SOCOM 4 U.S. Navy SEALs Hands-On Impression

Yesterday, at Sony's press conference, I had the chance to play a small bit of SOCOM 4 with the new Playstation Move technology. For an early build of the game, it was really well done and let you play through a good portion of one of the missions. The full demo lasted about 15 minutes per person and between Josh and I that came out to a solid 30 minutes with the game.
