Following the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV’s brand new expansion, Shadowbringers, Square Enix revealed today the first details of the final game update for Stormblood in which fans can expect a thrilling climax to the overall plot.
Patch 4.5 will be titled “A Requiem for Heroes” and will be released in two parts. The first part will be available in early January 2019 and the second in late March 2019. In addition, the new patch will also see the release of the much anticipated Blue Mage job, which was also announced at this year’s Fan Festival 2018 in Las Vegas.
In the Producer LIVE segment over the weekend, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida reveled more information about the Blue Mage job. It has been said that fans can expect a unique solo gameplay experience through “The Masked Carnivale”- a Blue Mage-exclusive content set to challenge players of the job when they hit level 50. Yoshida also revealed that Blue Mage will be able to learn all of its abilities by fighting monsters and that it will function unlike any other job to-date in the game.
As for the Patch 4.5 itself, subscribers can look forward to new features including a new main scenario quests, new trials, new world visit system, and so much more.

Another feature that is being implemented with the release of Patch 4.5 is that new European and North American Data Centers are being added to the game in order to cope with the growing population of the game.
Final FantasY XIV: Stormblood is available now for PC, Mac, and PlayStation 4. Fans looking forward for the new expansion can expect it to be released sometime in Summer 2019.
