Gaming Analyst Michael Pachter Reckons New Xbox Console Will Be Out Before The PS5

It has already been nearly five years since the release of the original iterations of the Xbox One and PS4 console. Now that it has been a half decade, people are now talking about what the future will hold soon. It looks like at this stage Microsoft wants to have a head-start before Sony releases the PS5.

As you might know already, Microsoft’s Xbox One console is in the runner-up position with Sony’s PS4 dominating this entire generation. To avoid being in second place again, there’s a chance Microsoft wants to release the new Xbox console sooner rather than later.

This is a bold prediction made by famed gaming analyst Michael Pachter who recently commented to GamingBolt. He said: “I’m sure Microsoft intends to launch first, and I am equally certain that the new Xbox will be backwards compatible with any Xbox One X software. I agree that it’s hard for Xbox One X purchasers, but they should know 4 years into a cycle that there is another one coming. My guess is that Microsoft intends to launch in 2020, but if they think Sony is going [to launch the PS5] then, they will launch early“.

This strategy worked back in late 2005 when the Xbox 360 came out a year before Sony’s PS3 did. The head-start allowed Microsoft to be on top for a while, although the Nintendo Wii quickly outsold it afterward.
