While developer CD Projekt Red is working on Cyberpunk 2077 at the moment, this does not mean it is looking towards the far future. This is because the developer might be interested in making another new game based on its popular Witcher franchise.
It sounds like we won’t be receiving The Witcher 4, but we could be getting a new game based on the same universe sometime in the future.
CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński hinted at the following during an interview with Polish website Bankier.pl: “The first three ‘Witchers’ were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game ‘The Witcher 4’. This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher. The Witcher is one of two franchises on which to build the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I cannot reveal anything more.”
Don’t get your hopes up just yet because it will be a long wait until we see another game based on the Witcher series. For now, the developer is putting all of its efforts into making Cyberpunk 2077 first.
