As you might know already, the Black Panther movie is taking the world by storm grossing lots of money this weekend at the Box Office. Due to the character’s newfound popularity, we might see the character in more things such as future video games and more.
Black Panther comic book writer, Evan Narcisse, posted on Twitter his interest in a video game based on the character. He said: “Y’all know where to find me when you wanna get cracking on that Black Panther video game…”
Black Panther has starred in many video games before, although all of them have been Marvel ensembles. This means he never had a game where he was the only playable character like Spider-Man, Wolverine and others.
The most recent video games he has been involved in include Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. Initially the character usually plays a supporting role but his appearance in the MCU movies are sure to increase his popularity.
I’ve seen the Black Panther movie myself and the hype is legit. It’s one of the best MCU movies ever made and it’s got a good story with lots of action scenes too.
The only big AAA Marvel game due out later this year is the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man. Spider-Man is a new story and isn’t based on the current MCU version starring Tom Holland. If Black Panther gets a video game in the future, it’s possible it will be an original take on the character too. Marvel usually likes to make its video games and movies set separately.
