After not having a Dragon Quest title on the PlayStation 3, the next entry in the series, Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time finally will be coming to PlayStation, as well as the Nintendo 3DS.
In addition, Square Enix also announced in a press release that Dragon Quest XI will also be coming to Nintendo NX; “Additionally, we are also considering launching on Nintendo’s in development NX platform.”
The differences between the two versions are outlined below:
PlayStation 4 Version
Version Producer: Hokuto Okamoto
The core development staff consists of a team at Square Enix. Because of the high amount of resources required to make the game, Square Enix is working with Orca on development. It’s being made on Unreal Engine 4.
3DS Version
Version Producer: Kento Yokota
The same core staff making the PlayStation 4 version is working on the 3DS version, with help from Toylogic.
Square Enix is aiming to release the upcoming Dragon Quest XI within the series’ 30th anniversary year in 2016. Both games will be released simultaneously in Japan. Unfortunately, no word yet if the game will be coming to West anytime soon.
