Skulls of the Shogun is 17-BIT’s venture into the world of strategy gaming and they can stand proud. Being easy to play and, surprisingly, for an indie title complex with depth to its gameplay. Having 24 levels of singleplayer content and multiplayer battle modes to choose from plenty of content is available in a small package at a decent and low price.

Offering gamers a fast-paced turn based strategy Skulls of the Shogun delivers an experience worth playing for the 10 minute bus journey on your tablet or those few hours spent in front of your PC or console. Skulls of the Shogun allows players to use a range of strategies to complete levels from summoning waves of units to charging in with the little troops you have in a final push. The art style is extremely eye catching resulting in long game sessions which is a treat in comparisons to other indie strategy games that have tried to look realistic and failed. For those only just dabbling in strategy games or those who have spent years playing Skulls of the Shogun presents something new and a game that is incredibly fun to play. This is why not only is it a must buy, but also a Game of the Year!

Being designed for Tablets, as well as PC PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, initially it was thought that Skulls of the Shogun would offer little more than five minutes of fun. Yet it ended up providing a basic storyline to string together some relatively hard and thoroughly entertaining turn based battles. – Oliver East, European Editor-In-Chief
