After a period of relative silence following the Calamity, the Serpent Reavers have once again taken to terrorizing the inland hamlets of La Noscea — killing the men, kidnapping the women and children, plundering the storehouses, and burning what little they leave behind. For years, it was not known how the pirates were able to raid areas so far from the coast, until a local shepherd sighted a band of painted ruffians entering Sastasha Seagrot, carrying large quantities of sacks and crates. Could it be that there is more to this cave than meets the eye?
Level: 15 (Sync from 17)
Overview
-The first areas of the dungeon involve fighting multiple enemies, such as black bats, mostly as a way to get you acquainted to the area. Then the difficulty ramps up a bit when you reach a room full of Big Clams and Shade Seekers. Neither are particularly strong, but the Big Clam continues to spawn more and more Shade Seekers. Make sure to take out the Big Clams as soon as possible, but don’t allow yourself to get too overwhelmed by the Shade Seekers either as their fire-based moves can reduce your health very quickly.
-One you get past all of these enemies, you will find your first objective, which is to activate the coral trigger, which leads to the first mini boss.
-Now you must hit the inconspicuous switch to advance open the hidden door that is your next objective. After continuing on through the caves, you will come across multiple pirates, including the next mini-boss Pirate Captain Madison, which will fulfill your next task of “Finding the Pirate Captain.” This mini boss will be described in further detail below, but due to him having multiple parts, you will be doing other tasks between your fights with him.
-The next objective will be done between your second and third meetings with Pirate Captain Madison. Go to the Captain’s Quarters and fight all the enemies inside, in which one will drop the Waverider Gate Key that you require. After this all you have to do is fight the Captain one last time and go towards the final boss area, with some enemies to fight inbetween.
Chopper – Mini Boss
-Upon pressing the coral trigger in the dungeon, you will find the first mini-boss of the dungeon known as Chopper. He’s pretty easy and will go down fairly quickly.
-Just pound away on Chopper as he has a decent amount of health. However, he doesn’t do a ton of damage as long as you have your tank out and the healer away from the fight to keep their health up. Chopper will go down before you know it.
Pirate Captain Madison – Mini Boss
-This mini boss actually has multiple parts as he likes to run away during your fight. Luckily he leaves behind treasure each time he runs away.
-Start the battle by taking out the other pirates first before turning your attention to Pirate Captain Madison. As with Chopper, there is not a lot of strategy for taking down this enemy.
-The second time you come across Pirate Captain Madison, he will once again have more of his crew that you should focus on first. Use the same strategy this time and he will run away again.
-Your last meeting with the Captain will find him taking a page out of Mr. Burns’ book and “releasing the hounds,” or Scurvy Dogs in this game, on your party. Finish off the dogs as fast as you can and move onto the Captain himself
Denn the Orcatoothed – Main Boss
-Denn the Orcatoothed is definitely the most difficult enemy you will face in the Sastasha dungeon. Unlike the two mini-bosses, you cannot just pound away at the enemy and likely make it through without a problem.
-Start off the fight by attacking Denn as per usual, but keep a keen eye on the screen until you see the warning that “Bubbles begin forming on the water’s surface.” At this point look around at the unnatural ripples on the screen and see which one has what looks like water rising from it. Make sure someone on your team hurries and interacts with the area to prevent the addition of other enemies to the fight known as Baleen Guards.
-As soon as you prevent the enemy was arising, go back and start attacking Denn once again, while also keeping an eye out again for the warning. If you were not able to stop the Baleen Guard’s from appearing, just fight them very quickly as they don’t have a lot of health. They must be taken care of quickly or they will likely take your healer out, which will make it about impossible to finish the boss fight.
-Beyond trying to prevent the Baleen Guards from joining the fight, continue to attack Denn the Orcatoothed and he will go down before too long. Just make sure to avoid Denn’s Hydroball attack if you can to reduce the damage you take, especially if you are the tank.
