With the WIi U set to release in a few weeks, it seems the system won’t be able to play Wii games by default. Unfortunately gamers will be required to download an additional update for Wii support, though this update will be available at launch. For those with limited to no internet connection, it’s not currently known how Nintendo will distribute the update. This will most likely mirror the Wii and just be included on game discs, though it’s hard to say how long till games release with the update (ideally all launch titles).
Sadly nothing else is known about this update, but at least gamers won’t have to wait for it like Vita users did for PS1 classics. Stay tuned to JustPushStart for more information as it arises.
