Sonic 4 Episode 2: Trophy / Achievement Guide

When it comes to Sonic games you’re expected to be fast, but you’re also expected to be accurate. With this in mind, this guide will try to streamline your journey to the end. However, don’t forget that many of these tasks will take a few tries to get just right, so don’t get angry if you fail to do it the first time.

Note: Since some of the controls can get confusing, I will use a simple name for them. You can find their meaning below, along with the input required for the action.

Summon Tails / Tornado Spin: Square (PS3), X (Xbox 360)

Super Sonic / Special Stage Speed Up: Triangle (PS3), Y (Xbox 360)

Bronze

The Adventure Begins

Clear SLYVANIA CASTLE Zone, Act 1.

This is the games first stage and is almost impossible to fail.

Rolling Combo!

Activate the Rolling Combo with Sonic and Tails.

On SLYVANIA CASTLE Zone Act 3, you’ll need to break down some walls. This is achieved by summoning Tails on the ground, so do that as soon as you see the board showcasing it and the achievement / trophy will unlock.

Metal Sonic Falls

Defeat Metal Sonic in SKY FORTRESS ZONE, Act 1.

On this level you get to take control of the Tornado (Tails Plane), which can be moderately hard to control. Simply try to stay alive till Sonic gets off, then clear  this short segment. At the end you will end up back on the Tornado, but Metal Sonic will be firing cannon balls at you. If you use the Tornado Spin attack (Same input as Summon Tails) and hit the cannon ball, then it will be reflected back at him causing him to take damage. It takes several hits, but is completely doable. If you’re having problems doing this, please check out the video below.

A Golden Wave

Defeat all bosses as Super Sonic.

This is most likely the hardest task and sounds FAR easier than it actually is. For starters you obviously need all 7 Chaos Emeralds, which you can find more information on under “All Chaos Emeralds Found!“. Next you need to fight each boss, but you need to obtain at least 50 rings prior to the end. Every stage has a different amount, but there are always at least 50 possible rings. From here you’re going to have to beat each boss to a point where you can finish them off while in Super Sonic mode. Sadly summoning Tails voids Super Sonic, so make sure you have 50 rings or are in Super Sonic mode come the last hit. ONLY the last hit needs to be done with Super Sonic and it will count even if you lose power prior to opening the box at the end. From what I understand, every boss stage is obviously required, in addition to Death Egg mk.II Zone, Act 1 Metal Sonic fight. I can’t confirm or deny that being required, though I won both Metal Sonic parts as Super Sonic. While none of the bosses are too bad, you can find a full guide under “All Stages Cleared!“. However if you’re having problems with the last boss, the video below has a walkthrough of it.

All Stages Cleared!

Defeat the final foe and watch the ending.

For starters this will not unlock online, but “All Red Star Rings, Found!” will. Most of the game is straight forward, but some of the bosses can be slightly confusing. With this in mind I wrote up a quick guide to them all.

SLYVANIA CASTLE

Normal: After the fight starts, wait for him to come down a little lower. For a brief period he will drop low enough for you to lock onto him and do some damage. Around when he summons the additional arms, you’ll be forced to use Tails to fly above him and then lock on. Rinse and repeat till hes dead.

Super Sonic: This level only has 50 rings, so you CAN’T take damage or waste Super Sonic time. Due to this you shouldn’t activate Super Sonic till he summons the extra arms. You might want to do another hit as a buffer, but anything sooner than this will result in a failure. Additionally, under no circumstance should you use Tails at this point. Using him will void Super Sonic mode and since you have exactly 50 rings, will also result in a failure.

WHITE PARK

Normal: Metal Sonic is the easiest boss in the game. When he glows you stay away and after he attacks you rush. Rings will keep respawning so theres little risk, but make sure to avoid falling to your death. One of his attacks can cause an automatic failure, which obviously you want to avoid.

Super Sonic: Since theres rings constantly spawning, you can do this whole fight in Super Sonic mode. Since you can’t take damage in this form, basically rush him till he dies. The only thing that can stop you is running out of rings or falling to your death. Either or, you shouldn’t have an issue winning this fight.

OIL DESERT

Normal: This is one of the easier fights, though it can be tricky at times. For the first part you want to avoid falling boxes and attack him when the dome opens. For the second part, when hes in your lane, you have to use the dual spinball and jump into him. This will knock him down, which is your time to attack. Hitting him once will finish the fight, so you shouldn’t have too many problems.

Super Sonic: Sadly this fight is almost the same, but there are some important tricks. For starters there is a 10 ring box above the pit you fall down, so get that and whatever else you can. From here you’re basically going to have to do the first half perfectly or it is going to be harder later on. After beating his first part, instantly activate Super Sonic and just stand somewhere. Sooner or later he will appear above you, but that’s your cue to summon Tails to attack him. Once hes stunned, go Super Sonic again to finish him off. You WILL need those extra 10 rings for this method, so make sure you get them.

SKY FORTRESS

Normal: Similar to your first Metal Sonic encounter, hes not that scary. Randomly he will appear to attack, but this also allows you to hurt him. Usually you can get him when he comes and right before he goes. Just watch for where hes heading and plan ahead. At the end he will fire missiles at you, though theses are easily avoided. Do a final Spin Dash to finish him off and congrats you won.

Super Sonic: The second you get 50 rings, just go Super Sonic. In this form you don’t even need to try, so just go where he is without thinking. You should get to the end in no time, which again only requires a Spin Dash to win.

Death Egg mk.II (Metal Sonic)

Normal: Repeat of what you did in White Park.

Super Sonic: Repeat of what you did in White Park.

Death Egg mk.II (Robotnik)

Normal: See “A Golden Wave“.

Super Sonic: See “A Golden Wave“.
