Price drives a lot of things, unless you’re Apple Inc., but with the 3DS’s price cut only six months after its release, so will the Vita, priced at $233, be seeing the same cost cutting soon?
Fergal Gara of Sony Entertainment Europe had a few words on the PS Vita’s price and the idea of an incoming price cut while speaking to CVG…
“So, what’s the appropriate point of reference for its price?”
Gara was speaking while contrasting the Vita to entry level tablets or smartphones. The Vita is significantly less expensive compared to many of today’s pricier electronics.
“We need to wait and see, but we believe it’s a step-change in performance and a step-change in capabilities compared to what people could do before.” said Gara, simultaneously avoiding and answering the question. Don’t expect the Vita’s price to drop any time soon.
