It has been confirmed by South African games distributor, Megarom Interactive, that Rugby Challenge will be releasing in South Africa.
For a time, it was uncertain if the game would be releasing in South Africa. South Africa are the current World Cup Rugby Champions so it makes sense that a Rugby video game is to be released in that country.
“We are very excited to announce these major competition licenses for Rugby Challenge” said Sebastian Giompaolo, Managing Director for HES. “Inclusion of these top class club leagues adds great depth and appeal to an already deep title for rugby fans all over the world. With our breadth of content, extensive customisation tools, and various modes, people will be playing this game for years to come”.
As previously reported, an official release date for the game has yet to be announced but its expected to be released in September just in time for the Rugby World Cup.
Although Rugby Challenge will be releasing in South Africa, it will be interesting to see if the game will actually be popular in that country. South Africa are included in the game but they are unlicensed. The only licensed teams in the game are predominantly from Australia and New Zealand. Nevertheless, the gameplay is looking really polished.
