This weeks downloads feature Bit.Trip Runner and Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney DLC.
Bit.Trip Runner (WiiWare: Aksys, 1000 Points) is the highlight of this week’s selection. It’s probably the most conventional game in Askys series as it’s effectively a musical 2D platformer. You run and jump around levels while avoiding obstacles as you would in a normal platformer but you have to time CommanderVideo’s leaps correctly in order to keep the pounding Chiptune beat going and carry on running.
You’ll be racing across the Moon, kicking down crystal walls and sliding under chomping moon-slugs. Or running through the Robotic Mines to face off against the MinerMech. Finally you must dash through the Big City on a quest to find friends and defeat the final boss together.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Pay & Play AOC(WiiWare: Capcom, 100 Wii Points) is the bonus fifth episode that was in the DS game but missing from the WiiWare version. There’s murder in the middle of a stormy night and two months after his assistant Maya Fey left, Phoenix Wright returns to court again to face off against genius prosecutor Miles Edgeworth.
Bit.Trip Runner and Phoenix Wright will be joined in the Wii Shopping Channel by Ghoul Patrol (Virtual Console: LucasArts, 800 Wii Points. Originally released for SNES in 1994, it is a sequel to the run and gun game Zombies Ate my Neighbours which is also available on Virtual Console. Zeke and Julie return for the sequel and they have to travel through five worlds in order to save their town from a horror exhibit that has come to life. Flesh-eating plants, ninja spirits, and ghosts stand in your way but you have access to a wide range of weapons including plasma guns, plunger arrows, squirt guns, and more.
Brain Drain (DSiWare: Enjoy Gaming, 500 DSi Points) is a puzzle game which scrambles an image and challenges you to place the pieces back as they should be.
Fire Panic (DSiWare: Playtainment, 200 DSi Points) is a simple firefighting game. Fires keep flaring up in a city and you have to use the stylus to draw a path for your fire engine to follow.
Chronos Twins (DSiWare: EnjoyUp, 500 DSi Points) is an adventure game which boasts a dual gameplay system that enables you to control your character Nec on both screens at once as two time lines take place simultaneously.
Finally there’s Sudoku Challenge! (Digital Leisure Inc., 500 Nintendo DSi Points) which features an astonishing 100,000,000 Sudoku puzzles! You can select the classic nine-by-nine Sudoku gameboards as well as Grand Sudoku which challenges you to complete five intersecting Sudoku boards simultaneously.
