Highlights this week include MegaMan 10, Dark Void Zero, and Bit.Trip Void.
Mega Man 10 (WiiWare: Capcom, 1000 Wii Points). Following on from the brilliant Mega Man 9, you can expect more retro platform action with classic 8-bit style graphics and sound.
A strain of Robot Flu called Roboenza has broken out and is bringing down robots everywhere. A month after the outbreak the infected robots go on the rampage, destroying the city and it’s up to Mega Man to sort out the problems and get to the bottom of the mysterious virus.
Bit.Trip Void (WiiWare: Aksys Games, 600 Wii Points) is the third game in the Bit.Trip rhythm action series. It puts players in control of the void, a black, pixellated circle, which players move around the screen. The void grows with each black block it touches and must avoid increasingly-challenging waves of white blocks. There is a four-player co-op or you can play with a friend.
Dark Void Zero (DSiWare: Capcom, 500 DSi Points) is another retro 8-bit throwback. You play as Rusty, the first human born in the Void, who must battle the Watchers in an attempt to foil their quest for world domination.
Flips: The Bubonic Builders (DSiWare: EA, 500 DSi Points) is another interactive book from B.Strange’s Too Ghoul For School series. The builders return to replace the girls’ toilet block at St Sebastian’s but James suspects some evil intent and with his friends Alexander and Lenny, he has to stop St Sebastian’s being reduced to rubble.
Globulos Party (DSiWare: GlobZ, 500 Nintendo DSi Points) is a mini-game compilation featuring 20 games including 4-Square, Arena, Basket, Bomber, Bomber-King, Croquet, Darts, Darts-King, Football, Funky-Football, Ice Hockey, Monster, Pétanque, Pinball, Rally, Rugby, Snooker, Sumo, Tic-Tac-Toe, and Volley.
New English Training: Learn with Tempo – Advanced Edition (DSiWare: Nintendo, 800 Nintendo DSi Points) is a series of exercises that will help you learn words and phrases in English.
Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon (DSiWare: Nintendo, 500 Nintendo DSi Points) is an ancient Greek-themed pinball game. We don’t think pinball was popular in ancient Greece but you have to rise to Zeus’s challenge and become a high-score champion.
Real Football 2010 (DSiWare: Gameloft, 800 Nintendo DSi Points) is back for another season. There are over 245 clubs to choose from in eight leagues, plus three new stadiums: Bavaria, Republic & Cathedral. You can take pictures on your DSi to customise the ball, flag or players.
Zaxxon (Virtual Console: Sega, 500 Wii Points), an old Sega arcade game that was originally released in 1982. Touted as the first isometric shooter, Zaxxon puts you in the shoes of a fighter pilot flying through heavily armoured space fortresses, zapping fuel tanks, dodging walls and blowing up enemy missiles.
