Rumor: Google Could Be Planning Streaming Console To Compete With PlayStation And Xbox

For the past several years the video game market has been dominated by only three companies. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are known as the big three and no other company has really managed to join them. Well a new rumor suggests that could change because Google might be interested in joining the console race.

As reported by Kotaku, sources tell them that Google is very interested in making its own video game console. It will heavily invest in streaming meaning it could be similar to the PlayStation Now service that is run by Sony but you can stream AAA video games.

Google is also aggressively looking at AAA video game developers to join them. This will be done by either wooing them over or acquiring studios to develop games for them. In either case, if this goes ahead we can see the landscape change in the gaming industry.

Streaming could be the future of games as it will prevent hardware limitations and storage space. One of the annoying things about modern gaming is needing to install video games before you play, but streaming will eliminate that process. One source says you can imagine playing something like The Witcher 3 with just by opening up a Google Chrome tab!

Anyway, this is just a rumor for now but it could be true. After all, Google has enough money and resources to develop something like this in the near future. Would you like to see a new video game console from Google?
