Sony Has Now Shipped Over 79 Million PS4 Consoles Worldwide

Sony has now released the latest information about the latest shipment numbers for the PS4 console. It goes without saying that the console is still a worldwide favorite and by this time next year it could be close to shipping around 100 million units.

Anyway, Sony announced that the PS4 has currently shipped 79 million units as of March 31st, 2018. This is close to the total number of shipments that the PS3 received over its 7 year lifespan. Sony is making a prediction that by March 2019, the PS4 could be shipping around 95 million units overall.

By this sales trajectory, we could be seeing the PS4 selling over 100 million units like the original PSOne did. It might be hard though to reach the 155 million mark set by the legendary PS2.

As for PS4 game sales, 246.9 million units were sold over the last fiscal year making it an increase of 29 million compared to the year prior. There are now also over 34.2 million PlayStation Plus subscribers all around the world.

2018 is sure to be another winning year for the console. In April 2018, we already received God of War and Yakuza 6 as exclusives. Later in the year we can expect to see Detroit: Become Human, Marvel’s Spider-Man and many more get released.
