A Street Fighter TV Series Is Currently In The Works

Video games have not really translated well in the movie industry as seen with the bad 1994 version of Street Fighter. Well a movie is not being made, a TV series could prove to be more successful as a Street Fighter series is currently in development.

As reported by Deadline, Entertainment One/Mark Gordon is set to develop a new TV series for the Street Fighter franchise. The executive producers will be the same people behind the pretty decent Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist web series so there’s a chance this new live action TV series will have some amount of credibility.

The story will be similar to Street Fighter 2 following the “World Warrior” arc. It’s being said the main four characters of the TV series will center around Ryu, Ken, Guile and Chun-Li. Obviously, M. Bison will be in the TV series as well serving as the main villain. It’s possible the other bosses will appear as villains too including the likes of Balrog, Vega and Sagat just to name a few.

Hopefully this TV series is good because the 1994 movie was atrocious as was the Chun-Li spinoff that was made a few years ago. There’s currently no release date for the series yet, but we should know more details on it later this year. As long as the TV series follows the source material, fans should like it.
